Hey there! Ever played volleyball, basketball, or soccer? Go ahead, raise your hand! Now, who has ever played lacrosse or even held a stick? Hmm, not as many, right? That's exactly what we're aiming to change here at Leaders4LAX.
Let me introduce myself. I'm Grace Burke, a varsity lacrosse player hailing from the West Coast. I've earned the title of All-American twice, proudly representing our region. But beyond the accolades, I'm a firm believer in the power of lacrosse to transform lives. I've donned multiple hats in the lacrosse world: player, leader, coach, and ambassador. Through organizations like USA Lacrosse, I've been fortunate to spread the love for this sport, and I'm incredibly grateful for the tight-knit community it has fostered.
But here's the thing – like many of you, I didn't know much about lacrosse either. It was a hidden gem, inaccessible to many, especially underserved girls. Lack of information, resources, and exposure held back potential players from diving into this exhilarating sport. That's where Leaders4LAX steps in.
We're not just players; we're ambassadors on a mission. Our goal? To break barriers, build communities, and empower girls through lacrosse. And let me tell you, it's been life-changing.
We're well aware of the stark differences between lacrosse on the East and West Coasts, especially for lower-income kids. But guess what? It's time to level the playing field.
Our long-term vision is ambitious. We're committed to mentoring girls and spreading our reach across California, and beyond. Picture this: a future where asking a group of young girls about their sports background elicits a sea of raised hands for lacrosse, alongside volleyball, basketball, and soccer. That's the world we're striving for.
Beyond just playing the game, we're here to inspire confidence, instill leadership, and foster teamwork. We want every girl to have the opportunity to pick up a stick and join this incredible lacrosse community.
How are we making this happen? Through mentorship programs, ongoing camps, one-on-one coaching, and being readily available for anyone eager to learn. We're not just providing equipment and instruction; we're offering a pathway to personal growth and empowerment.
With workbooks, websites, and how-to videos, we're extending our reach to local schools and beyond. We're not just teaching lacrosse; we're shaping futures.
So, join us in this journey. Let's rewrite the narrative of lacrosse, together. Because when girls have access to sports, they gain more than just athletic prowess – they gain confidence, leadership, and a sense of belonging. And that, my friends, is what Leaders4LAX is all about.
Are you ready to join the movement?
LIVE, LOVE, LAX
I am dedicated to making the sport of lacrosse more equitable and accessible to underserved elementary and middle school girls who might never have the opportunity to play this sport. I am committed to changing the lack of equity around this sport and make it a racially, economically diverse and inclusive experience for everyone. I teach 2 day camps that follow my four pillars for success both on and off the field: passion, commitment, teamwork and leadership.
Leaders for lacrosse is dedicated to making lacrosse more equitable in every way. And we’re doing this One Girl at a Time!
